Welcome

  • Philosophy of this wiki: People change their worlds constantly and usually with other people and beyond official channels.

  • Reason this wiki is needed: These kinds of changes are rarely documented, studied or circulated, leaving many to feel discouraged because bad news is much more exciting that good news. Understanding how change actually happens in everyday lives of people living together is empowering. The wiki approach allows for an expansion of knowledge and connection between stories and education that will grow organically and probably in ways not even envisioned at this onset.

  • Reason we use storytelling: Most people communicate in an exchange of narratives and learn from others by hearing, sharing and incorporating stories. We prefer case stories instead of case studies or case histories because we want to emphasize that this is more than a scholarly or clinical effort.  Yes this wiki is essentially teaching through case examples, but the telling of the cases is as important to us as the content because the telling is part of the process.

  • How to use this wiki: As the wiki develops, we envision pages devoted to storytelling and pages devoted to the use of stories in training, educating and empowering people to create change. Connecting theoretical work, anecdotal observations, scholarly reports, and classroom and training activities with these stories should provide a rich resource for those who want to work for a better world.
